Further reading about the Mesa Bone Collector:
2001-2005 eleven women were found buried by an unknown assailant in Albuquerque’s West Mesa, an undeveloped area that sat within the city limits. It was in 2009 that a woman walking her dog in the area found the a human bone and reported it to the police. As a result of this finding authorities started digging and found the remains of the 11 women and 1 fetus. The women were between the ages of fifteen to thirty-tow and were mostly Hispanic and had a history of drug use and prostitution.
It took investigators a year to identify all eleven women, and they began to build a timeline of the women’s last know whereabouts, they went to the streets to interview the women who were sexworkers and may have had interaction with the murder victims in order to help put together a list of suspects.
Police suspected that the women were all buried there by the same person and or persons, and that they had a serial killer on their hands, to which they started referring to the killer as the West Mesa Bone Collector. They never named any official suspects even with a reward of $100,000 being offered up in 2010. The police did follow many leads and had numerous men in their line of site but nothing came out of this.
and then we heard a good ole I survived story
Teka Adams was coaxed into an apartment by a stranger, the woman told her she had baby items that the very pregnant Teka could have. She met up with the woman, whose name was Stephanie, got in the car with her and somehow ended up at the woman’s apartment.
Stephanie took Teka into the bedroom, and turned on a movie. It was after a second movie and a phone call from Teka’s boyfriend that the woman attacked. She threw a blanket over Teka’s head and starts attacking her, she hit her about 40 times with a blunt object and then Stephanie kneeled down in front of Teka with a box cutter in her hand. It was then that Teka felt a sharp pain in her side.
At this point Teka had a head wound, and torso would and was covered in blood. This woman was trying to steal her baby.
In the end Teka and the baby survived…hence the show name I Survived.
