2011, Matthew Hoffman picked out the house he wanted to burglarize and then waited for the right moment. The house belonged to Tina Herrmann and her two children, Hoffman waited in the woods across the street bundled in a sleeping bag to ward off the cold of the November night.
Sometime after 9am on Nov 10, 2011 Tina Herrmann left her home and Hoffman made his way across the street and slipped under the garage door which hadnt fully closed. He didnt however just burglarize the home, by the end of the day Hoffman had fatally stabbed Tina Hermann, 32; her son Kody Maynard, 11: and their family friend Stephanie Sprang, 41. One person was still unaccounted for, Tina’s 13 year old daughter (whose name is not given as she is an under age survivor).
The strangest part of this story begins when police figure out that Hoffman is their prime suspect and go to his house, as they enter they find mounds of leaves through out the Livingroom, the piles were so high the police feared that bodies could be hidden beneath them. The bathroom walls were lined with more then 100 grocery bags filled with leaves and stapled in neat rows, and finally in his freezer, there were only red popsicles and the dead bodies of two squirrels.
Police found the 13 year old girl in the basement of Hoffman’s home. She was tied up and and confined to a bed that Hoffman had created out of leaves.
The obsession with leaves lead police to believe Hoffman was mentally ill, but in the end he plead guilty to the murders and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
and a case that seems to be the French JonBenet:
1984, Gregory Villemin was 4 years old when he was murdered, his body being found close to the Vologne River. The case received widespread media coverage in France and even today continues to hold the publics interest.
Gregory went missing from his front yard after 5pm on October 16, his uncle later that evening informed the family that he had received an anonymous call that the boy had been taken and thrown in the river.
Much like the Ramsey’s the family was believed to have been targeted because of their financial status, there was also a note sent that people believed Gregory’s mother wrote herself. From there multiple family members have been accused or arrested in this case.
